EUGENE, Ore. --- Chip Kelly said that college athletes should get "something" to supplement their current scholarships, but acknowledged that it's a complicated issue.
Earlier this week, NCAA president Mark Emmert proposed adding $2,000 to each scholarship, which would "more closely approach" the true cost of college for student athletes.
Kelly initially balked when asked his opinion on the proposal, but then said that he likes the idea of giving athletes more money. However, Kelly said he's worried that some schools wouldn't be able to afford the added burden that it would create on athletic departments.
Darron Thomas said that his injured knee feels 100%, and that he expects to start this Saturday against Washington State. But last week, Thomas said that he expected to start against Colorado, and of course, he did not.
