EUGENE, Ore. -- Two Oregon officers killed in the line of duty will be added to the Oregon Fallen Law Enforcement Officers Memorial.
Today Officer Chris Kilcullen and Deputy J.F. Lewis were unanimously approved to join the other 172 honored officers. Last April, Officer Chris Kilcullen of the Eugene Police Department was shot and killed during a traffic stop in Springfield.
Officer Kilcullen was a graduate of the University of Oregon and a member of the Eugene Police Department for 12 years. During his time with the police department Kilcullen received more than 85 commendations for his professional demeanor and positive interactions with the community. Kilcullen was 43-years-old and leaves behind a wife and two children.
Also being added to the memorial is Deputy J.F. Lewis of the Lake County Sheriff's Office. In 1882, Lewis was guarding a prisoner in Grenman's Hotel in Klamath Falls when he was shot and killed.
