ASHLAND, Ore. -- There are many Halloween pieces that can complete your transformation, but before you dress up for the night, optometrists are asking people to think twice about one accessory.
Decorative contact lenses are designed to change the appearance of eyes. The Oregon Optometric Physicians Association warn that many risks are involved in wearing these contact lenses. These lenses aren't fit to a person's specific eye measurements, so the possibility of complications including bacterial infection or ocular inflammation is much higher.
The contact lenses are not only dangerous, but it is also illegal to dispense them without a prescription; optometrist say that makes the contact's quality much more questionable.
