GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- It's official: there will be a recall election December 6th to remove Josephine County Commissioner Sandi Cassanelli from office.

Tuesday, Commissioner Cassanelli filed a 200-word statement opposing her recall. Last week, election officials verified her opponents had sufficient petition signatures to put the recall on the ballot. In her prepared statement, Cassanelli says her opponents are distorting her record to force her from office.

"These allegations are bogus! They are vague, exaggerated or outright false accusations. These people are so inaccurate they couldn't even spell my name right on their petition. Or correctly identify my position number to form their committee!" stated Cassanelli.

County Clerk Art Harvey says ballots will go out November 18th, and will be counted December sixth. If Cassanelli were recalled, it would fall upon the two remaining commissioners to name a replacement for her term, which runs through next year.
